Yahoo! Price Increase

Posted in Tech Info by User ImageMZaidee

I received the below email from “Yahoo! Small Business” (Domains-billing@cc.yahoo-inc.com). Yes, starting from July 1, 2008, Yahoo!’s annual domain price will increase from USD 12.95 per year to USD 34.95 per year.

It’s an increase of USD 22. Or 170% price increase! Without any new value added service, does Yahoo! deserve it?

Yahoo Small Business

Since there is still no real business for Fleeza.com, I’m using Yahoo!’s domain forwarding feature to forward all its traffics to my wife’s Wedding Resources Business at Elleez.com.

I will definitely pay before Jun 25, 2008 and enjoy the USD 12.95 per year price. But there will be 2 options for me to choose before the next renewal date:

  1. Move the domain to a new web hosting company.
  2. Sell the domain.

Again, does Yahoo! deserve a price increase?

  2. I had the same problem, so I saw it coming and moved it to a new domain registrar. Except Yahoo! decided to still charged me the $35 anyway and now won’t answer my emails! What’s worse is it looks like they’re going to charge me another $35 next year for a domain that’s not registered with them any more!
