Malaysians Face 40% Petrol Price Increase

It’s 12.01am in Malaysia (+8 GMT); it’s a start of a new petrol price. The new price is MYR 2.70 per liter (for petrol grade: RON 97) – increase of MYR 0.78 per liter or 40.625 % (note: MYR 2.70 = USD 0.83 = EUR 0.54).
It drove all Malaysians crazy. This is the first time in my life; I saw motor vehicles queuing up to 2 km for the old price.

Till today, I don’t understand why we are affected by the global petroleum price hike. Thru our oil and gas company - Petronas, we are exporting high grade crude oil (meant for jet fuel) and importing low grade crude oil (meant for domestic motor vehicles usage); and from these activities Petronas is making tons of profits. It is a real cash cow company. Malaysians should enjoy this benefit!
I’m thinking of two options:
- Replace the current Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi. This is the second time he announced price increase. His brain capacity probably is just 50% of our last Prime Minister Dr. Mahathir Mohamad.
- Petronas should consider stopping sponsoring the BMW Sauber F1 Team and use this money for the public. We gained nothing from this F1 sponsorship.
Yes, I sound angry. 40% of petrol price increases will soon to be 40% of food price increase. Emmm, difficult life ahead.
