Malaysia’s ex-prime minister Dr. Mahathir Mohamad joined the blogging community with his own blog accessible at www.chedet.com.

Introducing himself as the Malaysian prime minister from 1981 to 2003 in his “about me” column, his first article touched on the appointments of judges and the proposed Judicial Appointments Commission.

“Che Det” is Mahathir’s nickname as a child and his pseudonym for articles submitted to the Sunday Times between 1946 and 1950, which mainly touched on Malay economic and political predicaments then.

Dr. Mahathir has been known for his passion for writing and has written several books including the controversial Malay Dilemma published in 1970.

He now joins his daughter, Marina who has been blogging a few years with her RantingsByMM blog.
